A/W 18 Trend - Crayola Floral Prints

The trend for crayola brights dominated the S/S 18 runway, with designers sending countless models down the runway in popping shades of red, blue and yellow. This season these colours crossover in a new guise - print! Designers including: Balenciaga, Arthur Arbesser and Ashish showcased naive inspired floral prints, and embellishments, all in your favourite crayon box inspired colours. This print trend is all about putting the fun back into fashion. The prints in question are loosely drawn, with little to no detail - very reminiscent of the type of print you may have painted yourself as a child.  Note that such bold florals, come on a dark ground of black, providing the perfect backdrop for such a statement print. The contrast of the bright colour palette, against black, creates a striking visual impact. On the catwalk, designers opted to experiment with full head-to-toe looks  - so shrinking violets need not apply for this trend.

Trend - 'Female Empowerment' T-Shirts

I was in two minds whether to cover this trend, given the sensitive nature of the subject matter.  I in no way want to trivialise this trend, but nonetheless I have noticed its prevalence especially as a leading street style trend for 2018 and afterall I am a trend blogger and that is what I am here to document. The #MeToo movement which came into prominence in October 2017, has undoubtedly sparked a rise in 'female empowerment' slogan tee's. The very important conversation that such a movement has started, also goes hand in hand with International Women's Day, which was celebrated globally on the 8th March. For this, designers including Bella Freud and Stella McCartney designed exclusive slogan tee's celebrating the social, cultural and political achievements of women around the globe. In October 2016 Christian Dior debuted the now infamous 'We Should All Be Feminists' t-shirt as part of their Fall 17, which coincided with Hilary Clinton's election campaign in the United States. All of the above factors combined has led to many retailers designing tee's with empowering slogans and social messages. Shop my edit of the best slogan tee's I have found...

2. Milly $75
3. Stradivarius £9.99

Outfit of The Month - June

It's officially summer, hurrah!, so naturally my OOTM got me thinking of what my dream vacation wardrobe would look like. I instantly started thinking, lusting, of a vacay to Havana...maybe something to do with the fact that Camila Cabello's track of the same name has been playing on repeat lately. When I think of Havana/Cuba, I always picture the vibrant facades of Havana City's 'Parque Central'. If you don't know what I am referring to, a quick pinterest search will see you right. So which fashion brand is synonymous with their use of colour?...Missoni of course!  I've been a longtime fan of Missoni and adore both the mainline clothing collection, as well as the home decor. Season after season the Italian fashion house delivers a stella array of easy-breezy summer holiday pieces, perfect for days at the beach or exploring the local culture. This shirt dress evokes of the vibrancy of Havana, making it ideal for this outfit. The Loewe 'Puzzle' bag is now infamous, and this season comes in a dazzling colour combo of duck egg blue with orange piping - I mean talk about matching your accessories to your outfit - this tote is the perfect match! Further tying in the dreamy duck egg blue shade, this pair of sunnies from RETROSUPERFUTURE are another winning component to this outfit. Completing the look are a pair of tan, suede, espadrilles from J.W.Anderson. If you are spending your holiday exploring a new city you want to dress for comfort, so these flats will enable you to explore to your heart's content. Now...let me get that holiday booked!

MAJOR Seasonal Trend - Feel The Love

You know me, I love colour so you can imagine how much of a treat for the eyes the rainbow trend is. This trend is literally everywhere atm, from the catwalk to the street. You may remember on my blog earlier this year, I spoke about the trend for coloured stripes on apparel. Well this is that trend but taken to the next level. There is actually a very strong social message behind this trend as well. In recent years many countries, including Australia, have changed their 'Marriage Act' in Parliament to allow same-sex couples the right to get married. For many countries, this has been a huge step forward politically, and also for basic human rights and equality. For his final collection for Burberry, Christopher Bailey championed the LGBT youth community and sent model after model down the runway sporting rainbow brights. The infamous Burberry 'check' was also redesigned to incorporate rainbow colours. Also on the runway, Gucci have long been a fan of rainbow stripes regularly creating full head-to-toe looks. This is full on maximalism!
Ok so now you've got the inspo, it's time to start shopping. With this being a major trend for Spring, their is an abundance of rainbow apparel to shop in both the high street stores and luxury brands. If you are looking for high-end pieces, then look no further than: Gucci, Burberry, Alice and Olivia, Attico and House of Holland. If these brands are a little on the pricey side for you, then do not fret. Fast fashion e-tailer BooHoo have gone BIG on the rainbow trend, designing everything from puffa jackets to bodysuits. You can pick up these pieces for under £30, perfect if you don't want to invest too much in this trend. Another great thing about this trend is that rainbow stripes have made their way onto every type of garment and accessories. Bags, shoes, earrings and even phone cases have been adorned with these glorious seven coloured stripes.
