Milan Fashion Week SS15 - Top 10

More seventies vibes at Gucci with very interesting leather and lace mix dresses. The oriental print from this collection will no doubt become one of the most recognisable prints from the season. Futher nods to the 70's at Fendi with suede mini dresses, but my favourite look was the cut out feather dress worn by Joan Smalls...talk about attitude! Amazing. Versace and Dolce and Gabbana stuck to their tried and tested formula's. Daring thigh high splits and shimmery fabric at Versace and a plethora of Black/Red and Gold at Dolce and Gabbana. Dramatic ostrich feathers, animal print and marble effect dresses at Cavalli marked a stark contrast to the feminine flowing gowns seen at Alberta Ferretti. I particularly liked the prints at Ferretti with throwbacks to the brands SS14 prints. This time around the scarf like prints were in pretty pastel shades of lilac and pink. Soft paisley prints were seen on the runway at Etro, in its entirety the collection reminded me of Zandra Rhodes designs. The shape of the dresses, the sheer fabric and the naïve yet controlled prints. I'm always a fan of Pucci and this season was no different. The embellished mini dresses, fringing, scallop hems and colourful gowns were beautiful as ever.

London Fashion Week SS15 - Top 10

Now that London Fashion Week has drawn to a close I have put together my round-up of favourite shows. The emerging SS15 trend for 'Graphic Palms', which we saw in New York, made it's way onto the runway in London. The Matthew Williamson, Erdem, Preen and Peter Pilotto collections all echoed this trend. The Queen of the colour-block, Roksanda Ilincic showed a beautiful collection of pink and blue hues, whilst over at Fyodor Golan the more colour the better! Henry Holland showcased a collection at his namesake label House of Holland, that was a psychedelic display of everything he loves about the 70's: suede fabric, vintage inspired floral prints and crazy paisley placements. Inspired by the metamorphosis of elements and Pangaea,  Mary Katrantzou's dresses were heavily embroidered and embellished with exquisite caviar beading. We saw several new and interesting dresses on the Christopher Kane runway, definitely worthy of a few red carpet appearances.

New York Fashion Week S/S 15 - Top 10

In the past I have created several blog posts for fashion week, this time I am going to limit my coverage of fashion week to just one blog post per country and select my top 10 overall collections from each city. It has taken me a while to select my favourite shows as there has been plenty to choose from. Be sure to take a look at my 'Runway Favourites' and 'Lookbooks' boards on my Pinterest page for a more extensive look at all the S/S15 collections. I am updating my pictures on these boards daily with all the up to date catwalk imagery. You can find me on Pinterest at 'PhillippaDesign'...don't forget to follow me.
