Africa - Print for Fashion

This module provided me with the perfect opportunity to spend time in the print room developing screen printing techniques, preparing me for starting level 6 in September and more imminently my print internship with Zandra Rhodes in July. I wanted to focus on abstraction for my prints as this links with traditional African textiles, but of course I made my designs contemporary with a vibrant colour scheme and printed on beautiful silks. My prints look somewhat like a homage to the 1970's, who doesn't love abit of nostalgia? Notable points of reference for my market research include the fantastic Yinka Shonibare, Commes Des Garcon, Celine, and Moschino. I haven't uploaded all the pictures of my development samples, there was just too many!!! Enjoy looking at these pictures. P.S. I got a 1st for this module.
