A/W 18 Trend - Metallic Ombre

When it comes to dressing for A/W, metallic fabrics are one of the most seasonal choices you can make - even more so for evening-wear. This season, block colour metallics will not suffice, the trend instead being for dazzling ombres. Cavalli played it safe (as safe as a metallic ombre gown can be), showcasing a dreamy silver/wine metallic combo with dip-dyed fringing. It was the ultimate 'wow' factor dress. At Ashish it was a different story. We all know the London-based brand is known for OTT metallics and lashings of sequins, so it came as no surprise that they were fully onboard with this latest trend. Rainbow ombres reigned supreme and were seen head-to-toe on suits. Over in Milan, Marco de Vincenzo is another designer who has been a longtime lover of metallics. For A/W 18 the designer combined this particular trend with another huge trend for the season - quilting. It was a major ode to the current trends whilst staying close to his signature look. In my below edit, the runway looks are accompanied by the artwork of US artist Jim Hodges.
