Brand To Know - Monse

Since launching their debut S/S 16 collection at NYFW in September 2015, Monse has become one of the fastest rising brands in fashion. Having secured Net-a-Porter and Bergdorf Goodman as stockists in their first season, Monse has been nominated in the 'Swarovski Award for Womenswear' category at the 2016 CFDA awards.
About the Brand - Founders Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, met whilst working at Oscar de la Renta, where they have a combined 18 years experience. Their label Monse is centered around the notion that women need not be corseted in eveningwear, opting instead for loose fitting silhouettes with a subtle hint of undress about them. For both S/S 16 and A/W 16, seen below, they took a classic shirt and played with the concept of tying it in various ways to create strapless dresses and interesting off the shoulder looks.
Stylists and celebrities were quick to notice Monse, for it's subtle sex appeal and laidback eveningwear aesthetic. The soft silks and luxurious velvet fabrics lend themselves perfectly to draping, meaning the wearer can feel confident in what they are wearing and need not be self conscious. Celebrity fans include: Selena Gomez, Jaime King, Kate Bosworth, Kerry Washington, Brie Larson, Sienna Miller, Sarah Jessica Parker and Lady Gaga.

If you are looking to invest in something different for S/S 16, then Monse could be the brand you have been looking for. With a price range of $500 - $4000 you can invest high or low depending on if you want daywear or eveningwear. No doubt Monse will increase it's stockist list over the coming seasons as the brand gains popularity, but for now take a look at what Net-a-Porter have to offer from this brand. Be quick before it sells out. Happy shopping!
