Looking somewhat like a colourful packet of sweets, colour-blocking was a major hit on the runway for Fall 19. Whilst the concept of colour-blocking is nothing new, we saw a variety of aesthetically pleasing new colour combo's on the catwalk this season: Lilac and yellow, red and purple, fuchsia and orange. All had an artistic flair to them, reminiscent of some of the world's most famous artists including Mark Rothko and Henri Matisse. This trend explores the theme of colour-blocking in a very maximalist way, it focuses on head-to-toe dressing rather than just a colour-blocked t-shirt or handbag for example. Despite this, runway looks were sophisticated and surprisingly wearable. To nail this trend, avoid mixing too many different fabrications together, avoid adding prints, and stick to classic silhouettes.
