Neon is this season's ultimate trend. Whether it be apparel/accessories or even cosmetics, A/W 18 is all about high-visability. When you are used to a more muted palette for Autumn, it is easy to understand why this years' biggest colour trend could be a little overwhelming - but there's no shying away from this trend, it's literally everywhere and you've just got to embrace it loud-and-proud! Whilst you may think this trend lends itself more to fun daywear pieces, you'd be wrong in thinking this. On the runway we saw many formal eveningwear looks, that had been elevated by the use of high voltage neons (Olivier Theyskens, Emilio de la Morena). Knitwear is a Fall wardrobe staple, and this season you can update your collection with a neon knit. Simply pair with a silk skirt (ref: Balenciaga) or go super casual and team with tailored trousers for the ultimate trend-driven daytime outfit. For those brave enough to tackle some serious colour-blocking, look not further than Prada and Marni for reference. They took colour clashing to the next level with some seriously OTT neon pairings. From head-to-toe, these looks were all about excess. If all this talk of neon brights is giving you a headache, then do not fear. Why not invest in neon winter accessories that will bring your look right up to date. A cute wool hat or neon leather bag will work well with an all black outfit, and if you do invest in a handbag the bright colour will make it appropriate to carry right through to summer.
