Resort 19 Trend - Picnic Blanket Checks

Think of Spring, especially during your childhood, and you may think of picnics in the park - I know I do. A whole host of Marks and Spencer party food, on paper plates, laid out in extraordinary fashion on an iconic printed blanket...most likely to be ruined by overexcited wasps. Oh the memories!  Picnics are somewhat a thing of the past, but that hasn't stopped this classic picnic blanket check print making a strong appearance for Resort 19. Making its most dominant appearance at Jil Sander, the print was seen on full head-to-toe looks on high-neck/figure skimming dresses and even tights. Mulberry  showcased the most classic picnic check in multi coloured squares of wool. Due to the nature of the origin of this print, the trend has a heritage feel to it and in large part it is a very easy 'non-print' to incorporate into your wardrobe.

Autumn Wishlist 2018

Back with another seasonal wishlist, where I am showing you the 9 fashion items which I am coveting this Autumn. If you look back over my previous wishlist edits, it is clear that I clearly have a thing for red and black...I mean seriously though how obsessed can one be with a colour combination? Lately I've been loving The Kooples, especially their collab with Stella Maxwell and Irina Shayk. With that collab in mind, i've been reguarly checking out The Kooples website for the latest drops and they have some seriously gorgeous dresses this Fall (3). If I were to style such a dress, I would definitely team with an ultra-cool pair of ankle boots. Cue this somewhat awesome pair from Russell and Bromley (6). If you have been following my blog for some time, you will know that i'm a sucker for a skinny scarf. Zandra Rhodes (one of my design heroes) has designed a number of skinny scarfs, featuring her iconic screen-printed motifs...and i'm in love with them (7). Talking of accessories, I recently got my ears pierced. Granted i'm about 2 decades too late to the ear-piercing party, but better late then never! Obviously that means that i'm now on the hunt for super cool earrings. Thomas Sabo has some great pieces at the moment, which are delicate but also have an edge to them (5). See my below edit for the above mentioned pieces, as well as a few more lust-worthy pieces.
1. Leather Skirt - Nanushka £275
2. Wool Coat - Karen Millen £325
3. Dress - The Kooples £328
4. Leather Bag - Mulberry £795
5. Drop Earrings - Thomas Sabo £198
6. Ankle Boots - Russell and Bromley £295
7. Silk Skinny Scarf - Zandra Rhodes £95
8. Check Mini Skirt - Maggie Marilyn £295
9. Printed Neck-Tie Blouse - Rixo £175

A/W 18 Trend - Neon Everything

Neon is this season's ultimate trend. Whether it be apparel/accessories or even cosmetics, A/W 18 is all about high-visability. When you are used to a more muted palette for Autumn, it is easy to understand why this years' biggest colour trend could be a little overwhelming - but there's no shying away from this trend, it's literally everywhere and you've just got to embrace it loud-and-proud! Whilst you may think this trend lends itself more to fun daywear pieces, you'd be wrong in thinking this. On the runway we saw many formal eveningwear looks, that had been elevated by the use of high voltage neons (Olivier Theyskens, Emilio de la Morena). Knitwear is a Fall wardrobe staple, and this season you can update your collection with a neon knit. Simply pair with a silk skirt (ref: Balenciaga) or go super casual and team with tailored trousers for the ultimate trend-driven daytime outfit. For those brave enough to tackle some serious colour-blocking, look not further than Prada and Marni for reference. They took colour clashing to the next level with some seriously OTT neon pairings. From head-to-toe, these looks were all about excess. If all this talk of neon brights is giving you a headache, then do not fear. Why not invest in neon winter accessories that will bring your look right up to date. A cute wool hat or neon leather bag will work well with an all black outfit, and if you do invest in a handbag the bright colour will make it appropriate to carry right through to summer.

Outfit of The Month - November

I'm back with another new #OOTM and this time I had a very clear direction for the look I wanted to go for. For the best part of the past 12 months, i've been seriously lusting over LA based brand 'Anine Bing'. Founded in 2012, by Danish model Anine, her collections are the epitome of everything I want my style to be. It's literally like the brand read my mind when creating each piece in the collection. So with that in mind, I based this entire look around the 'vintage' sweatshirt with the now infamous 'BING' slogan. I adore the distressed look of the sweatshirt mixed with Americana vibes. Faded grey  skinny denim jeans are a standard feature in my wardrobe, and this pair from Frame do the job perfectly! Now whilst I would usually wear an outfit like this with a leather jacket, no can do at this time of year, so i've opted for an unashamedly bold faux fur leopard print coat from Alice and Olivia. What really drew me to this coat, was the layered black hoodie underneath. It really relaxes the feel of the coat, and stops it looking to glam. The tote bag comes courtesy of Balenciaga. The 'City' tote has been around for years but my love for it has never really wavered and this deep oxblood shade is perfect for autumn. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I LOVE western style boots (its a borderline obsession) and this studded pair from Rag & Bone are right up my street. Completing the look is a leather belt from Saint Laurent, with more of the western vibes which I love so much!
