Best Dressed 2017

For the forth year in a row, I am taking a look back at some of the best dressed stars on the red carpet from the past 12 months. If you follow me on pinterest (phillippadesign) you will know that I have a 'Celebrity Red Carpet' board, and on here I pin all the best looks from: major awards shows, premieres, film festivals, the MET gala, etc. I love seeing how catwalk looks translate onto the red carpet and this year there have been some great red carpet moments. Keep reading if you want to see my 'Top 10 Best Dressed 2017' list...
Jennifer Lawrence - Atelier Versace Fall 17 - Mother! London Premiere
This look left me utterly speechless. Head-to-toe stunning! JLaw often opts for Dior, so in itself it was refreshing to see the actress wearing an unexpected brand. Whilst the silhouette is classic, the detail is beyond extraordinary. The hair and make up was also perfection.  10/10
Cara Delevingne - Chanel - MET Gala
Cara is never one to shy away from really making an impact on the red carpet and if there was ever an event for the young actress to pull out all the stops it was of course going to be the MET Gala. I love that Cara doesn't always play by the rules when it comes to fashion, ditching a classic gown and instead opting for an exquisite embellished Chanel suit. What really made this look work for me, was the head-to-toe silver styling. I can't really think of many other Hollywood actresses who would take such a risk, so Cara has to be saluted for that.
Elle Fanning - Vivienne Westwood - Cannes Film Festival
Super stylist Samantha McMillen has really put Elle Fanning on the fashion map for me. Elle always delivers show stopping red carpet moments and this year at the Cannes Film Festival the actress really shone. This customised Vivienne Westwood gown was everything a Cannes gown should be. It was Hollywood glamour but with a fun / youthful twist. Loved it.
Lily Aldridge - Ralph Lauren - MET Gala
As we know the MET Gala is the one event where it is generally accepted that attendees will take risks and wear something a little different. I adored the drama of the Ralph Lauren dress as worn by Lily Aldridge. The razor sharp cut-out details created a 'look at me' moment without being overly 'try hard'. The red Balenciaga 'knife' boots were the perfect choice for this look, adding yet more drama. Had it not been for the boots I don't think this look would have made my top 10.
Zendaya - Dolce and Gabbana - MET Gala
Talk about making an entrance! Zendaya is one of my favourite red carpet stars, constantly pushing boundaries with her red carpet looks wearing the the most eye-catching pieces from seasonal collections. It is not very often that stars wear printed gowns to such huge events, a photocall perhaps, but not usually an event the scale of the MET Gala which is why this look was a breath of fresh air. Amazing!
Daisy Ridley - Monse - Star Wars: The Last Jedi LA Premiere
Daisy Ridley is definitely one to watch as a rising star of both the screen and the red carpet. Having enlisted the help of stylist Samantha McMillen, Daisy delivered some incredible red carpet  moments on the Star Wars: The Last Jedi promo tour. Each look was perfect for the theme of the movie, and non more so than this incredible sequinned gown from the Monse SS18 collection. Monse is fast becoming one of the hottest brands to wear on the red carpet, and with a star applique design it really was a match made in heaven that Daisy wore this dress. It was show stopping and fashion forward at the same time, but without being too OTT. I can't wait to follow Daisy's style evolution on the red carpet over the next year.
Blake Lively - Atelier Versace - Golden Globes
Blake rarely puts a foot wrong on the red carpet, knowing exactly how to nail the Hollywood glamour look. Back in January the actress took to the red carpet at the Golden Globes in a floor length Versace gown. It was elegant and sophisticated and yet I also loved the relaxed feel of the gown with the addition of embellished pockets.
Kate Bosworth - Alexandre Vauthier - InStyle Awards
Ok, so whilst this look wasn't worn to a major event I absolutely adored it. Kate Bosworth is one of my favourite style icons, loving her style both on and off the red carpet. Kate can do ultra feminine looks, but as this outfit proves she can also do drama. I mean what is not to love about a floor length sequinned gown with defined shoulders and a thigh high split? The blue floral corsage and red rip showed Kate's natural flair for red carpet dressing.
Lily Aldridge - J.Mendel - Bulgari event
Same as above, this look was not worn to a major red carpet event, but nonetheless it was flawless. The fitted bodice was ultra flattering and the cape added drama to the look. The beautiful colour of the dress really made this outfit memorable for me. It is not always easy to successfully wear a floor length gown in such a bright colour, but Lily managed to pull this off superbly. Slick back hair completed the look.
Zoe Kravitz - Christian Dior Fall 17 Couture - Emmy Awards
Zoe is another star who is not afraid to take risks on the red carpet. The actress is known for her edgy style and she always shows that when dressing for events. This Dior gown with rainbow coloured feathers was breathtaking. Wearing one colour can be daring in its own right, let alone a multitude of colours. A plunging neckline and diamond choker added the finishing touches.

Who was your best dressed star of 2017?
