One of the most popular tailoring trends of the past few seasons has been the use of 'shirting'. Classic shirting came in oversized silhouettes, with tied waists, exaggerated sleeves and unexpected volume - Providing a modern way to update a classic wardrobe staple. For Pre Fall 17, designers including: Milly, Tome, Monse and Jonathan Simkhai all embraced this trend once again, elevating the look even further with printed spots and stripes. Inspiration for this key sartorial trend can be widely found in different design fields, with architecture and art proving very influential. Finnish born artist Yrjo Edelmann's work perfectly encapsulates the mood of the trend. His oil paintings somewhat resemble the draping and delicate movement of shirting material. Colours are kept minimal, think light sky blue and white.
