Resort 15 - Part 7

Mary Katrantzou seems to be incorporating more embroidery into her collections lately, but the style of garments still remains true to her brand. Her collections are becoming more sophisticated, also using easier to wear colour palettes. The Pucci collection was as expected: signature prints/signature colours. The floor length white dress with revealing side detail has the potential to be a real red-carpet showstopper. I would love to see Gwyneth Paltrow or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing this gown.

Resort 15 - Part 6

I adore the Zimmermann collection! The interesting use of texture and print really caught my eye. These dresses could be great red carpet looks and the muted tones mean the garments are a little easier to wear. Same goes for the Christopher Kane collection. Neon pops of lace throwback to previous collections from the designer, but all the looks are still fresh and new. Matthew Williamson stuck to his signature colour palette, a formula that works season after season. Williamson also created conversational prints using one of his favourite motifs, a dragonfly, which was used in his first ever collection. The Flamingo dress by Giles has already been worn by actress Gwendoline Christie.

Resort 15 - Part 5

Valentino produced a Resort collection featuring a total of 83 different looks, and I have to say that I loved most of them. The collection used a standard Valentino colour palette, embroidered lace and suede dresses, and a signature butterfly print which the brand has been using for the past 3 seasons. My favourite part of the collection was a cute monkey print on a blue ground, there was even gold monkey earrings to match. There were prints a plenty at Cavalli and a electric blue leather mini dress which had been cut to reveal yellow lace underneath really caught my eye. The Mugler appealed to me because I really like dresses with interesting cuts and detailing. No.21 and Vera Wang presented collections which would really suit my own personal style.

Resort 15 - Part 4

One of my favourite prints from the past 2 seasons, was a pink/black large scale abstract painted floral from Milly Pre Fall 14. For Michelle Smiths Resort collection, the same style florals are yellow and blue on white ground which I equally like. Smith has also continued to use tech fabrics; latticework, power mesh, and lasercut leather, which is fast becoming a signature Milly look. Also worth a mentioning, are the large scale animal prints at Missoni which pack a real punch in vibrant colours on black and white dresses. I always love the colour block combo's at Roksanda Ilincic, the cut of the garments is always interesting as well.

Resort 15 - Part 3

The main collection I have to talk about in this blog post is Moschino. I am loving Jeremy Scott as the Creative Director at Moschino. For his first Resort collection for the brand he looked to the archives of his own namesake brand. See image below. The collection is all about fun and creating talked about pieces, and he has definitely achieved that here.

Here is a selection of more Resort 15 Collections. I can already tell that the Stella McCartney 'Mexican Wrestler Mask' bag will be a must have accessory for the coming season.

Resort 15 - Part 2

Here is Part 2 of my look at the Resort 15 collections. This post includes some of my favourite designers: Erdem, Peter Pilotto and Clover Canyon - all 3 of which always present great use of colour and print. Working in a design studio, I always imagine how the collections will translate onto the red carpet and in stores so I really love Cushnie Et Ochs for the red carpet worthy dresses. There are also several pieces in the Prabal collection that I would wear to work; I love the short, structured dresses.

It was during the 2nd week of May that Karl Lagerfeld jetted out to Dubai to showcase the Chanel Cruise 15 collection, marking the start of Resort season. Everyday since then, new resort collections are being shown. I will be putting a selection of my favourite Resort collections on my blog over the next few weeks. Here is Part One.
