Milan Fashion Week - A/W 14 - Part 1

Roberto Cavalli
Dolce and Gabbana
Prada
Fausto Puglisi
Gucci
Les Copains
Moschino
Sportmax
Blumarine
Antonio Marras
 Etro
Roberto Cavalli showed a collection with signature animal skin prints, with a colour palette of fiery reds and black. Models paraded around an actual ring of fire, complementing the flame prints shown on long dresses.

I must also mention Jeremy Scott's collection for Moschino. Talk about fast fashion, this collection was fast food fashion!!! Models wore clothes which referenced a very well know fast food chain and carried their handbags on plastic trays. The final few looks from the collection saw models literally dressed in candy wrappers. The collection brought a huge injection of fun to proceedings at Milan Fashion Week and for that I salute the brand. French Fries iPhone case anyone?
I'll be posting Part 2 of my Milan Fashion Week Highlights in the next few days.

London Fashion Week - A/W 14 - Highlights

Burberry
Peter Pilotto
Temperley London
Mary Katrantzou
Paul Smith
Antonio Berardi
Preen
David Koma
Roksanda Illincic
Erdem
Matthew Williamson

I live streamed the Burberry show on Monday and, as always, it was superb. Inspired by the Bloombury Group, the collection featured loosely hand-painted florals. I can recommend watching it online if you get the chance. You can already pre-order the runway collection on the Burberry website and the 'Colour Block Check Blanket Poncho', priced at £895, with personalised initials is sure to be a new season must have.

What did you think of the latest offering from Mary Katrantzou? A change in direction saw Katrantzou produce a collection free from digital print and bright colours. Some garments reminded me of similar silhouettes that we are used to seeing on the runway at Valentino. My favourite pieces from the collection were the chain mail dresses. I work next to Katrantzou's studio and had seen the chain mail in the week before the show and was intrigued to see how it would be used, I liked the result.

Milan Fashion Week is now under way, so I will be posting new runway collections soon.

Katie Eary for River Island

One of the industries most talked about up and coming designers, Katie Eary, is collaborating with high street retailer River Island. I've been a fan of Eary's work for a while now and you may remember I posted about her designs on my blog last August. My background is in print design, so I was initially drawn to Eary's use of playful and inventive prints. It comes as no surprise that one of Eary's biggest celebrity fans is Rihanna, who has also collaborated with River Island. Eary cited that inspiration for the collection came from the film 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas', bringing in elements of wild animal prints with fiery accents. Swimsuits with plunging necklines are for the brave, whereas t-shirts from the collection will look suitably stylish teamed with skinny jeans and a leather jacket. This new collaboration is sure to make Eary one of the years most coveted London designers and bring her name and style to the masses. The collection will officially launch on February 18th, during London Fashion Week.

Which are your favourite pieces from the collection?  Will you be purchasing any of these garments/accessories? For me, the clothes are a little too bold for my everyday style, however I love the red leopard print sandals and would definitely wear them styled with a simple black shirt dress from the likes of Equipment or T by Alexander Wang.
