VMAs - Red Carpet Round-Up

Last night some of the biggest names in the music industry descended on the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. I thought I would create a 'red carpet round-up' to let you know who wore what, and which looks were my favourites.
Rita Ora - Alexandre Vauthier Fall 13 Couture
For me this dress easily wins the 'Wow' factor award. The British singer looked stunning wearing this pale blue gown, complete with ostrich feather train. Rita Ora is known for her bold fashion choices and I like that she experiments with her style. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but this look is a winner.
Selena Gomez - Atelier Versace Fall 13 Couture
I was not surprised to see Selena wearing a Versace gown as she is a fan of luxury Italian fashion brands. The star, who recently celebrated her 21st birthday, is clearly trying to make a transition from Disney star to serious musician/actress. I love everything about this dress, it is grown up and sleek and Selena still effortlessly manages to make this daring/risqué dress look sophisticated.
Holland Roden - Naeem Khan Resort 14
The actress opted for a skirt/cigarette pant combo which she pulls off so well. I don't know much about this actress but after seeing this great red carpet look I will be sure to look out for what she is wearing at future events.
Shailene Woodley - Emilio Pucci Resort 14
In a sea of couture gowns and floor length dresses, I found it refreshing to see the American actress wearing a more young/fun outfit. Pucci is one of my favourite brands so I was pleased to see this look on the red carpet. I love that the skirt features a signature Pucci print, but in sequins and beading.
Ciara - Givenchy Fall 10 Couture
This is definitely a 'look at me' dress. It won't be to everyone's liking for its revealing, 'barely there' nature, but there is no denying that Ciara looks great. This same dress has been worn on the red carpet before and we have seen similar looks on Florence Welch, but nevertheless this exquisite detailed dress gets my vote.
Allison Williams - Valentino Fall 13
I remember watching the live stream of the Valentino runway show and falling in love with the collection. There is something so feminine and romantic about Valentino dresses. The subtle detail on this dress is just so beautiful and the length makes it easy and practical to wear to an award show.
What were your favourite red carpet looks from this event? Most attendees opted for similar colour palettes, but I would have loved to have seen someone successfully wearing a striking print. Do you agree?

The Next Big Thing - Katie Eary

Having graduated in 2008 from the Royal College of Art, menswear designer Katie Eary has been making waves lately in the fashion world. Eary's collection, which she identifies as 'street couture', was first selected to be photographed on Kate Moss by Mario Testino. Since then the power of celebrity has played a big part in raising the profile of this new label. Rihanna, Jaden Smith and singer Rita Ora are all self-proclaimed fans of the brand. Ora has been photographed wearing several head-to-toe looks from the designers menswear collections, blurring the lines between masculine and feminine dressing. With collections named things such as, 'Flamingo Massacre' and inventive prints featuring goldfish and lobsters, it is easy to see why Katie Eary is gaining an applauded reputation...and fast.
Spring/Summer 13 - 'Goldenfish' T-Shirt - £215
Jaden Smith - Autumn/Winter 13

Rita Ora - Spring/Summer 14 Menswear - V Festival
'Flamingo Massacre' - Spring/Summer 14
With the success of her menswear collections, Eary has recently launched a womenswear line. If you want to own a piece of clothing by this emerging designer then you should know that stockists of Katie Eary's collections include: Harvey Nichols, Mr Porter and Farfetch.

Souvenir Gallery Highgate/Studio Legohead

I recently discovered the most wonderful shop in Highgate called 'Souvenir Gallery'. This quaint shop located at 249 Archway Road sells handmade: textiles, homewares, jewellery and prints, all from British based artist and designers. This shop is the perfect place to buy pieces for you home that not many other people will have, injecting some personality into your living space. Be sure to take a look at the website for opening hours and images of products that the shop sells.
I was compelled to take a look inside after spotting quite possible the greatest ever cushion in the window display. The velvet 'Fox' cushion, I soon found out was a best seller. Priced between £49.95 and £79.95, the cushion is now on my wish list. The shop also sells 'Greyhound' cushions which are equally as cool.

Souvenir Gallery also sells prints by 'Studio Legohead'. I had never heard of Studio Legohead prior to visiting the shop, but it became an instant favourite of mine. Studio Legohead, aka artist Jo Chambers, creates custom pet portraits. Anyone you reads my blog will know that I collect silk scarves, so imagine how much I loved Jo's 'Pugs In Pucci' collection of prints. Genius.
For £98 you can commission Jo to create an illustration of you pet. It would make such a lovely gift for any animal lover. The media which Jo uses really gives her illustrations so much character. You can find Studio Legohead on Etsy to see a more extensive range of prints available for purchase.

Milly - First Ever Ad Campaign - Fall 13

Last week I was looking through the pages of the September Issue of Vogue UK when I spotted a 'Milly' Ad Campaign. My favourite Stateside luxury fashion brand have launched their first ever ad campaign, featuring French model Loulou Robert. The new campaign is such an exciting step forward for the brand after being established for 13 years. I think the images, along with new logo branding, look fantastic and perfectly represent the ethos of the Manhattan based label. As per usual I am lusting after the entire Milly Fall 13 collection and I can't wait to see what they deliver at New York Fashion Week this September. I can't believe it has been almost 12 months since I attended the Milly Spring 13 show at the Lincoln Centre..how time flies. Milly have also recently opened a new store in the Hamptons, with more to follow in the Middle East. The brand are also soon to launch a new e-commerce site. Congratulations team Milly on the new campaign.
