I chose the trend 'Dark Glamour' from View 2 magazine. The trend is inspired by 'Hollywood Nostalgia' and '1970s glamour' with hints of Baroque, lush feathers, statement jewlerry and dip-dyed fabric in warm smokey colours. This was an embroidery module. My final garments are being exhibited at Indigo international trade show in Paris, February 2011. I received a 1st for this module.
Moodboard and Research Drawing Sheets
Primary research = antique jewlerry, brooches, feathers, flowers
Development Boards and Samples
I produced several compositions for each group of objects,as product placement is particularly important to ensure the designs are commercial. I then chose my favourite 3 for each design. I produced embroidery samples and dyed my fabric. Fabric used - Sandwashed silk and black cotton. Market research included: Pucci, Matthew Williamson, Mary Katrantzou, Holly Fulton, Zuhair Murad, Valentino.

Baroque - Interiors and Fashion
I completed this module in May 2010, however I forgot to photograph it at the time and then it went into storage for the external examiner. I have only just been given this work back, so apologies for the severe lateness of posting pictures of this module on my blog. As it an old module I will just post my final designs. My research was developed into 2 furnishing designs, for which I also screen printed a 3 metre length of fabric, and then it was developed into embroidered fashion designs. The theme was Baroque.
